What a difference a year makes.
« on: October 13, 2010, 08:47:27 AM »
At the end of last season, I noticed a new neighbour. She was British, slim, good looking and friendly, with a good sense of fashion. She moved over here to live with a Turkish man that she had met on holiday. I saw her again yesterday, and what a transformation! She was looking pale and tired, wearing long trousres, long cardigan and a headscarf,no make up,she kept her head down and hardly spoke to us (he did all the talking).
What I don't understand is, If this Turkish man fell in love with her as she was last year, why has she changed her persona?.
Also does anyone else think that it is wrong that someone who is not Muslim, should wear the headscarf etc?

So did mine, but never in temperatures of over 70* and certainly not in her early twenties!

I have to agree with you scouser2. Maybe she is happy living like that but my personal opinion, which i am entitled to, is that she has been told to live this way. Or like you say, why the change. The lady was ok looking how she did at the beginning, so why change, she would have changed her appearence from the start. Im sorry to say this but some women are bullied into this way of life. Not just this culture but all cultures have bullies, and women are scared not to conform. :(.

If she is happy living like that then it's time for everyone else to get on on with their own lives and leave her to hers. People poking their noses into other people's life choices is one of the biggest causes of grief.

What ever happened to live & let live?

Yes point taken Scunner, and I would never interfere, and yes I do live and let live. I just wanted to know other peoples opinion on this.
As a mother,I was made aware of the extent of bullying by a domineering partner when I saw major changs in my daughter's behaviour and personality when she was with a former partner.
