When is an aircraft carrier NOT??
« on: October 18, 2010, 13:35:26 PM »
At a time when Argentina are still determined to reclaim The Malvinas, (Falkland Islands), the illustrious British Tory government Defence Secretary, Liam Fox has just admitted that Britains aircraft carriers could be left without any aircraft, due to changing from one type of plane; the Harrier , to the Joint Strike Fighter, (which won't be ready for deployment until 2018!)

Bloody Rule Brittania?? I think NOT!  [:(!]

We can always put French aircraft on them after all it was the French made 'Super Etendard' missile that caused most of the British Deaths back in '81.  They can make it up to us now by giving us some aircraft!

TUT,TUT, Eric, come on man, get it together, the 'Super Etendard', (built by Dassault-Breguet,) was the fighter aircraft which carried the AM 39 Exocet Anti-Ship missile which did the damage
Bottom of the class, my boy!!  :o [:o)]

Yes Eric and it was the french that gave in and gave the Argies the codes so we coulnd't deter them exocets. If they hadn't withrdawn the Ark Royal with all its facilities before the Falklands we would have been in a better position especially with the early warning system. HMS Invincible and its sister ships were not aircraft carriers at the time and they called them "through deck cruisers" politics again. Enough, enough LOL

HMS Invincible did not have a sister ship in 1982 in the Falklands conflict.  The other ship was HMS Hermes. She was the flag ship and she was not a three deck cruiser. They didn't exist when she was built. The ramp was added so she could be used to launch the harrier jump jets.  I should know because I was on her at the time. Am not surprised Gordy was right when he mentioned exocets.  Hope you and Lorraine are ok Gordy.
