Jenny,
Monarch/ Avro  terms / conditions web pages [ avro are their flight bookings side of the group ] state quiet clear it is £30 For each name change, and can be done online just put your booking reference in and follow instructions.
 .
who advised you of £100 ?.or have you booked a full package with monarch holidays of which terms / conditions may differ.

P M if you care.
Ron

Looks like £100 on here blueclad:

http://www.monarch.co.uk/faq/flights/change-name/step-2

Maybe it's different if you book through Avro as it does say £30 on their site. I guess it depends if you book with them or direct with Monarch. Seems strange though to me.

I have just rung them and they have quoted £100, I would understand if its a last minute thing, but it's for February? :(

Jenny,

How did you book originally? If it was through Avro then you might have a case for their charges:

5. If you want to change or cancel your booking.

If you want to change your booking details in any way, we will try to help you, although we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do this. The following charges apply for changes in addition to any difference in price. If there is any increase in the fare available at the time you request any change, you will be liable to pay the higher fare. You will also have to pay any additional costs or charges incurred or imposed by any of our suppliers. We cannot transfer insurance premiums.

All travel companies and most airlines have this standard statement hidden in the Terms and Conditions:

We have your money and you want a holiday, like it or lump it.

Before becoming a stewardess with Monarch my daughter worked as a holiday co-ordinator with Airtours (as was). In that capacity she did many name changes and reckons it takes all of 10 SECONDS. How do they get these bloody prices[?][:(!] By the way she doesn't know why the difference between Monarch direct and Avro exists as Monarch actually own Avro[?]
