I went to Amazon yesterday, logged on and ordered a book for £6.00 put a message on it for the recipient and bought it with "one click". For some reason I decided to look at my account and saw the book was not there but a £79.99 coffee maker had just been ordered and was due next week and my account was being debited.
I immediately cancelled the coffee maker and emailed Amazon. I got an email back telling me I must have used a public computer to order the book and not logged off so someone else had ordered the coffee maker using my details. They also told me there was no sign of the book and I should order it again.
This information surprised me as I had not used a public computer, I used my own in my office at home and why would someone order a coffee maker and have it sent to me?
I wrote back to Amazon explaining I used my own computer and would order the book at another company who did not blame me for their mistakes.
They wrote back and apologised and said it must have been a glitch in their system which deleted the book and replaced if with the coffee maker!!!
So, as this is suppose to be the busiest day on the internet for Christmas ordering and if you are using Amazon, after you make your order go back and check your Account. I think they have a glut of coffee makers they want to get rid of.
