Places to visit

We are looking for a lazy man's (in terms of research) guide to places to visit.

We are out in our apartment in Ovacik for a week commencing the 30th March this year and bearing in mind the time of year, can anyone offer some tips on stimulating, breathtaking and interesting places to visit using Ovacik as the base. We want to impress some friends with the beauty and diversity of the region.

We will have a car and sat nav and really want to cram as much as we can for the week.

I know this is a bit lazy of me but, I seem to recall someone posting a daily places to visit schedule previously on the forum but I cannot find it.                
As I say,  any tips greatly appreciated.

Our beach, The Starfish Bufe at Yaniklar is a nice place if you are a beach and scenery person, it will not be sunbathing weather but as long as its not raining its still very pleasent in the sunshine. People in the know have been coming most days all through the winter About 40 minutes drive from Ovacik

If you drive to Kaya and head to Fethiye from there that is a lovely ride.You can also go to Gemiler beach from Kaya.
Does sat nav work in Turkey?So many villages have the same name!

Drive the coast road to Kas and then take a day trip on a ferry to Meis.

Nothing quite like the Kalkan - Kas coastal road to impress (go even further if you have time - Kekova etc).   Stunning scenery and the wild flowers should be in full bloom at the end of March.  A little closer to home is Kabak - a lovely coastal drive ending up at a really sweet litle restaurant for lunch - the Olive garden  http://olivegardenkabak.com/aboutus.html   I seem to remember they open in the spring.  Or then in the opposite direction, you could head for Dalyan, take the boat trip across the lake and find the golbashi restaurant for a lazy lunch.  The tables are on stilts over the water and you can watch the turtles, snakes and ducks busy busy as you chill with your efes.    All wonderful options.  Uzumlu is only 15 minutes drive away, and a walk around the traditional village with lunch (why do my suggestions always include a refuelling stop ?!) at the winehouse.....mmmmmmmmm

Would definitely recommend Sagalossoss.  It's quite a hike (2 hours, about 10 kms from Burdur) but is absolutely fantastic.  They say it will rival Ephessus when completely excavated.  There are 2 enormous agoras.  All the artifacts where taken to Burdur museum and can be seen there.  Makes a good day out.

Superb, there is plenty here to help me plan all out great days out.

In terms of sat nav, I hope it works but as a fall back, I have the rough guide to the region and the map! Does sat nav work effectively?

April is perfect for Iztuzu Beach in Dalyan. If you drive you can go to the other end away from the end that the boat trips end up at. It is a truly magnificent soft sandy beach and you can walk for ages into the sea and it still doesn't reach chest high.

April is just lovely but you will need to find a space on the beach. As you can see from my photo it gets crowded but I was lucky enough to find a sunbed and a pole for my ring - what more could a man wish for!

we've used sat nav in turkey . it works but i think you have to down
load of the internet hubby does it. if you want to know i can ask him to reply to this topic and let you know
