re register electricity meter
« on: February 09, 2011, 09:48:20 AM »
Hi all
I have tried to search for info but came up with zero results.

Can anyone tell me the cost of registering our electricity meter. The meter is still in the builders name and we want to change it to our name.

What do I need to take with me, ie passport etc.

Any info much appreciated

You need to go to the Aydem Office in Fethiye to do this.

It costs approx. 77TL to do this (it did in November 2010 when I did mine).
You need to take with you:-
Passport
Tapu
Tax Number
Abone Number or Tesisat Number - this identifies the electricity supply you are taking over(either obtain from the builder or will be on an electric bill if you have paid one already in the builders name for electricity you have used).

Was quite an easy straaight forward procedure - Good Luck

What about if you are renting? Do you need to get the meter put into your name if you are responsible for paying the electric or does it stay in the owners name?  If you are able to change it, do you have to show a copy of your rental contract instead of Tapu?

Chrissie just leave it in the owners name, this is what all the people I know who rent have done, otherwise you could find yourself liable in future if someone else rents after you.

they would need power of attorney to re register to your name if you are not present.
