How to get rid of a Heron?
« on: February 22, 2011, 09:14:07 AM »
We have a heron that keeps coming into the garden and sitting in the pond trying to get our goldfish.  I tried a scarecrow which did not work and then we had to net the whole pond.  This still has not worked, caught it sitting on the net this morning.  We don't want to have to net the pond for the Summer, so any ideas?  I know the fake Heron does not work, as I have already been told that by a relative.
:(

A heron in your garden? How wonderful. Better than those boring goldfish.

My father has the same problem, but he does have a fake Heron and it does work !!.  he also has a child's windmill that rotates in the wind, apparently that helps too !!

Put a shark in the pond!

I also believe the fake ones work. Worth a try.

Can't remember the exact name but you can buy in the UK a device that has a motion sensor and is connected to a hose which when activated sends out a jet of water.....think that could well deter it!:D
