Man Who Averts H&S Incident Sacked on H&S Grounds

You really couldn't make it up.

A New Forest station master who sees a shopping trolley on his track, recognises the health & safety risk of that and jumps down to remove it and prevent a potential derailment, is sacked on Health & Safety grounds. Why? He shouldn't have been on the track :-\

It is utter madness and I hope he wipes the floor with the morons at his Tribunal.

27 years service, obviously nearing retirement, probably some jumped up numpty had the bright idea to save on paying out a pension. should (or when) this man wins his case and bags the cash, I hope that the 'numpty' who thought up this charge gets sacked!

South West trains is owned by Stagecoach, so we shouldn't be too surprised at this outrageous sacking.  The company has a poor track record (no pun intended) in how it manages its staff across all the transport sectors.:-\ The Souters who own most of the business may be fanatical christians, but they are certainly not enlightened:-\

Hope this guy goes to tribunal on this one.    I'd like to think that a Tribunal judge would see the injustice.   [:(!]

It's a sad country when bravery becomes a sackable offence. I wonder how many of the fire fighters who went into and survived the World Trade Centre fire and collapse should have been dismissed for a "serious breach of safety". No place for heroes here it seems.
