A work colleague has a friend who has had her forthcoming wedding reception booked at Alnwick Castle for a very long time. The Castle owners have been pestering her to move the wedding date for some time but she has constantly refused their every increasing offers of compensation which started out with paying for the wedding dress. She continued to refuse up to the point of their latest offer including the following..

The wedding dress of her choice, a free of charge reception on another date including all food and drink, a two week honeymoon to any destination in the world and (get this) her mortguage paid off.

Of course she accepted this offer but why was it made?

The Beckams wanted to hire the castle for their son's birthday party on that day.

Forkinell!

these stories are really boring now, for 10 years I have heard weddings cancelled for, his wedding, all the boys birthday parties, renewal of vows etc.

I've booked our local scout hut for my birthday. £100 including finger buffet and disco. I think a St. Johnstone football star must want it as I've been offered my money back.

Of course star, it costs a hundred quid H. A Saints squad player wouldn't be able to afford it.
