Manhattan 9/11

Bearing in mind the imminent 10th anniversary of perhaps the most vile act ever perpetrated upon other humans, (with the exception, of course, of Americas' Atomic bombings of innocent Japanese civilians),has anyone else ever wondered why the Manhattan district of New York City has to have so many sky high buildings? I know many will come back at me with that old chestnut about "having to build up as high as safely(??) possible, due to lack of land, but, think about this, 2 buildings, each of 110 stories of office space, were totally "blown away", during the cowardly attack of 9/11, BUT where have the businesses that were conducted in those buildings previous to 9/11, been conducted in the intervening 10 years ? Surely , if all of these businesses could be operated from other, available properties, there is no need to build more increasingly taller "Target" sky-scrapers.

I take it then GordonA you count those 430,000 who died from the Atomic Bombs in Japan to have been a bigger atrocity than the death of the 4,242,295 souls who perished in World War 2 Nazi concentration camps.
I do not understand your reasoning.

When did mass wipeouts of our fellow human beings become a competition?

I cannot believe that it took as long as 1hour 40 minutes for someone to scan the 'net in order to come up with concentration camp figures like "Farmer" has. ( Concentration Camps;a British concept, 1st used by British Forces during the Boer Wars), Totally off-topic, therefore I won't even go there.
There were SEVEN (7) buildings in the World Trade Centre complex, ALL were severely damaged, if not destroyed on 9/11.
A gentleman by the name of Gary Stock has gone to great lengths to compile a dossier, not yet complete, of all businesses in the W.T.C. as at 9/11. See following;

Gary has identified over 700 prospects (Businesses), by name. Preliminary research suggests as many as 60 more firms maintained a business presence within the Trade Center complex. Many of these Prospects were so large, that they occupied as many as 10 floors by themselves!!
He has also identified over 240 phone listings present in the WTC complex.
Gary, known as ;Unblinking,has identified over 75 vacant office suites present in the WTC complex, as at 9/11.

 Tony,I respect your reply, but,I find it impossible to accept that ANY company having the financial wherewithall to be able to afford office space in ONE of the most, (if not THE most ),prestigious office complexes in the world, would "go to the wall", because of the disaster, Insurances providing.
Keith, definitely NOT a competition of MY making, Guv'nor.

Not sure that a five storey office block would be any less of a target to fanatics Gordon.

C'est vrai, mon Ami, c'est vrai, but my original point is, I believe, still very pertinent. Where have all of the financial transactions taken place for the last 10 years, bearing in mind that this particular area of Manhattan is basically a license to print/make money, and that the "good ole U.S.of A". needs more of that commodity than any other country ??
