« on: September 09, 2011, 13:19:54 PM »
We were in the garden yesterday when a Turkish man came in and asked us for money for a local childrens charity.  We asked was it the CCC but he said it was for all child in Olu Fethiye and Calis.  We asked did he know Chrissie and Pete he said no. We did not give him money but our neighbours did. We wanted to know is this guy official ?

I hate to say it but probably not. Did he have any paperwork to prove who he was, or nme of the charity? If not then he was definately not genuine.

All the 3Cs committee members have "dog tag" badges in both English & Turkish on a blue lanyard. It shows the logos of the Belediye, Fetav & Calis hotel & restaurants assoc as well as the 3Cs logo. If he can't produce one, he ain't officially involved with 3Cs

Firstly so that everyone is aware, the 3C's DOES NOT go around collecting money so if anyone comes to your property asking for money they have nothing to do with us.

The only collecting of money we do is in our collecting bucket which is available for people to put donations in at our charity shop, our fundraising events and the carnival. If anyone comes and wants to makes a donation to us, other than putting money in the collecting bucket, they are given an official receipt stamped with the 3C's official stamp.  All of this is recorded in our accounts. All members of the 3C's also  have id cards as described by Liz but we would never cold call anyhow.

We were made aware of a couple of Turkish people collecting for a "children's charity" on the far side of the canal in Calis on Tuesday. We understand they had clipboards and some form of badge.  We immediately reported this to the Director of FETAV who was in turn informing the Police and Zabita as she knew nothing of these collectors and thought they were illegal.

Please do not give these people any money.  If you should be approached by anyone asking for money please could you e-mail me with a description of them so that we can pass the information on to the police and zabita.

Better still, take a photograph of them.  If they are genuine they will not mind!

FiG also do not collect anything without being asked first, we had someone last year going to peoples houses and asking for 2nd hand items to sell in aid of FiG. We NEVER collect without prior arrangement
