Without the sterling work the Animal Aid Charity do in our area this could have happened here.

Thank You Mark, just a little reminder to everyone how fortunate we are in this little region of ours to have such a splendid facility, as it stands it is in very safe hands and well catered for due to your generous donations and support, please keep it coming ;)

I have just read this article and it really does break my heart that this still is allowed to happen in Turkey.
I have been to Istanbul a few times and rarely ever see a dog or cat there.
I have been aware of this going on there and many other places over turkey how these  people sleep at night I will never know.
I wish I had trained to be a vet and could do more to help these poor animals.
As Andy said we are so lucky to have a animal centre here and so many people that help us to do what we can to help our furry friends and the not so furry as well.
Thanks to those people that care x

I really did'nt want to read it ...... I can't believe this sort of thing still goes on!!  How they can kill them like this I really do not understand.  Is it because the Government does'nt want to put any money into it because they do not see dog's as we do ?? I need it explained to me.... where do they all come from in the first place?? Obviously its because the dogs are not neutered so they breed and breed but why dont they have shelters all over Turkey? Is it only the English that have started the shelters??  Lots of questions I know but I am ignorant in this field - I want to help and will be living in Calis next year so plan to do all I can for AA when I am there. I love our little furry friends and I hate seeing this go on  - it breaks my heart.  My dog does'nt know how lucky he is - I keep telling him !! lol

Jenny, the Fethiye animal shelter was started by a Turkish lady not English, she also continues to battle on in other areas of Turkey, we only help where we can, it is not our shelter.

It states in the Qur'an that dogs are ritually unclean animals HOWEVER they should be treated with kindness and freed. This obviously isnt being observed in the above article. Most practicing Muslims wont have a dog as a pet but will keep a dog for working practices such as guarding property, farm dogs or for hunting. Muslims believe that the angels wont enter a house if a dog is inside. Education, support and funds are the only way things are going to change.  Yes our animals are truly blessed in this region with our "A" Team and the sanctuary.
