The text to speak on Kindle is very robot like. I don't use it. I do however load a few songs so that I can listen whilst I read. Quite useful on my 'old' £109 Kindle with wifi.

No. That's the 3G one I think. Mine was £109 and is wifi only. They are brilliant though  :)

Another slant is WH Smith have just released a version called KOBO, they are in partnership with KOBO, i have done a comparison on all ereaders and have went with this one, they retail at £169 but are on offer for £109, this is for the touch version, there is a cheaper version, so it will be worth having a look and see what you think.

I've got the 'older' version and must admit the ability to buy and download anywhere( Ibiza and Calis) is fab! I'd say the best feature was the screen though becuase there is no glare when reading in the sun and thats not true of other e-readers!

Hi Heather 07.My wife has the 3g and wifi one which cost about £149 in March 2011 from Amazon. It's great and we have used it to download newspapers and books while we were in Icmeler in August this year. The picture quality is excellent, even in bright Turkish sunshine. To conserve battery power, you've obviously got to switch off the internet connection when reading your downloads or your battery goes flat quite quickly.

Thank you everyone for your help. I have just purchased the Kindle 3G + Wi-Fi.

The up to 2 month battery based on half an hour use every day was the deciding factor as we will be taking this on our travels this winter.

Thanks again  8)

Thank you Sannyrut.  I have been speaking to daughters partner who tells me a new one is due out before xmas.  Cost to be £60.00.  He seems to think that is enough to read books which is probably all I would do.
Then again, if I put it it on my xmas list, it will depend what santa brings:D ;)]
Off to see son who has one so will check his out.
