Where would you want to be for your 50th

As some members may have gathered, I celebrated (:() a landmak birthday in Aberdeen last weekend.

I was born in Aberdeen and still have many family members and life long friends there. It was therefore the natural location for the present Mrs H to organise a truly wonderful "surprise" party.

This got me thinking though.  NO - don't stop reading PLEASE.

Given a choice, where would you have a landmark birthday party and why. Also, you are allowed six "special" guests - who you could invite (yes I know a similar thread has been done before)

Calis wmay well be most people's first choice so please specifiy a.n.other venue

Oops Puma - it was clearly a typing error and should have read 40th ;)'

Seriously, in my case, it was indeed a slightly higher number higher that 50.

The question really is "where would you want to celebrate a landmark birthday whatever the number might be"

My 50th is a long way off  8) but I know exactly where I will be, and who with - if I can choose from celebs and even dead people from three centuries ago I would still go with Mrs McScunner and my two lovely girls. I need no Lennons, Da Vincis or Mandelas. I shall be in a restaurant so far off the beaten track in Venice that we nearly got divorced trying to find it first time. I shall walk in and ask for my usual table. I shall not learn the Italian for "Who the hell is this t*ss*r". All planned!

For my 50th, I'd love to be in a 5* hotel in Sorrento having dinner on the balcony overlooking the sea, and a harpist playing softly in the background.
My 6 special guest would be me, myself, I, my hubby, my other half and him indoors.
:P

I would choose New York.  I would like to have dinner at the River Cafe Brooklyn, no guests just me and my husband, but if I could have some magic I would have the Rat Pack to entertain us. We would have a table looking out across the river to N.Y.
We were luck enough to have dinner at this venue when we were last in N.Y. It's very difficult to get a table and is the most expensive place we every ate, but have to say it was the best, could not fault it in any way. This is it.

The menus look very nice Jacqui. Do the main courses come with rice, chips and salad.

I like Jacquis idea very much. My own would be Cafe des Chineurs in Antibes and as well as my family I would like some of my dead idols there - Ian Curtis, James dean, Randy Rhoads and Buddy Holly - to talk about the great times they had.  Slightly macabre but there would be lots to talk about!
