I was rather hoping others would follow suit and post pictures of people they would like to remember on the 11th.

Somewhere I have a photo of my father leading his men, and giving the salute, in the march-past down the main road of St Heliars in celebration of the liberation of Jersey. But it is somewhere in the loft.

My father never spoke about the war (apart from telling me a rather good humourous story of his early days of service in the UK before being sent to the serious fighting). It was over 40 years after his death that my mother told me that he was the first officer ashore on at the beachhead during the liberation of Jersey. We know now that the Germans quickly surrendered and gave up the island. But the troops didn't know that then. I've thought about that today and I'll think about it again on the 11th.

Now I'm going up in the loft. I may be some time.

My Mother was born on 11th November 1930, but died in 1976.  That is some one special that I will be remembering on Friday. :)

I'll be in Catterick on Friday Tinks. I'm attending the combined Armistice Day and Parachute Regiment Passing-out Parade. I'll give 'em your regards.
