Buffalo Steak House
« on: November 22, 2011, 16:57:54 PM »
A group of us went to the (re)opening night at the Buffalo on Saturday & the place was heaving, although, when we arrived at 7:30 it was only around half full.

We ordered drinks, which were brought quite quickly but had virtually finished them before our food order was taken. Whilst waiting for the food to arrive, we ordered a 2nd round of drinks, these arrived on 3 seperate trays brought by 3 different waiters & the "large" draught beer was only 300ml, whereas the first round it had been 500ml  :o

We watched as a number of tables that had arrived after us, were served bread & 4 pots of dips - but we had nothing. We watched as these same tables were served with their food - still nothing. We asked for bread on 3 occassions & were finally given 5 strips of bread between the 3 of us & no dips [:(!]

Just over 2 hours after ordering food it finally arrived. I have to say that the Lady steak was very good & cooked as requested (rare), however, having ordered chips I was given a jacket potato that was somewhat dry & the salad a meagre 1/4 tomato & a few strips of lettuce. Neither of my friends steaks were cooked as ordered & the T bone was particularly poor.

Meantime, the band appeared & although they were quite good, they were way too loud & we had to shout to have any conversation. The level remained after the band finished.

All in all not the best of nights & a shame, as we had been saying that it was the kind of place Fethiye needed, but spoilt by bad service, mediocre food & poor ambience

I haven't been but was chatting to a friend who also went over the weekend, he thought it was a shambles from start to finish & has vowed not to return. Opening nights can be troublesome in any business but I believe the owner has a lot of experience in this type of venue so shouldn't wait that length of time for anything let alone sub standard offerings when they do finally arrive.

In my opinion, ANYONE who waits anywher near 2 hours for a meal, is a fool, & deserves whatever is "chucked" in front of them.

Thats a shame. I know paul the owner personally and know he has very high standards so will pass this onto him so he can evaluate what went wrong. Yes its a great place and fethiye needs something like this. Lets see what happens over the coming weeks to see if there is improvement or not. My guess is there will be.

Calis and Fethiye restaurant big opening nights are often a disaster in my experience and should never be attempted or attended.

It won't stop me going there. In opening and closing nights, it may happen in any restaurant.
Buffalo is still my favourite.
