Bad quality of Efes Beer?

You can also get residual metallic taste from canned beers too. Also as above if its draught beer. Nothing like old 'Burton water' for brewing!

Being a great fan of Belgian beers, I can live with a slight metallic taste, the side effect I was talking about disappears when you get used to the iron, and that means keep on drinking.... NO PROBLEM WITH THAT

Maybe it needs a new section as we are discussing Efes and Tuborg - "All things that have nothing to do with decent beer"

Are you talking draft beer or bottled? The former is noted for inconsistencies due to many factors. Bottled however should not vary that much unless there is a major change in the brewing process.

Personally I've never noticed any variation in bottled Efes and I've been known to down a few bottles in my time.

The UK version does taste different however but I put that down to the lack of sunshine and sand in my living room

I was talking about bottled beer. Last sunday for instance I was at the sunday market and visited a cafe later on. At our table two people sent back their bottle because the beer (Efes) tasted bad, we weren't even talking about the issue beforehand. The landlord offered a new bottle, so he solved the problem but he had to admit that this happens  quite often.

Just maybe they are old bottles of Efes? On doing some checking it seems Efes is pasteurised for a shorter period of time beer and as such only has a 6 month shelf life. Check this out:

Far be it from me to suggest anything dodgy but maybe some bar owners try and pass off out of date Efes and change it for new stock when they get found out.

It won't be the first time a bar owner/landlord has tried to get rid of old stock or stock bought cheap because it only had a very short shelf life left.
