Metacam for dogs
« on: December 24, 2011, 13:13:53 PM »
This is a long shot folks, but I am going to ask anyway!

Our Greyhound Jack has just broken his back leg in two places and has been given a plaster-cast for the next 5 weeks.
Unfortunately, the painkillers in Turkey, which are suitable for Greyhounds, are not allowing him to cope with the pain he is in.

I wondered if anyone on the Forum would have any Metacam with them in Turkey, which we could buy from them or If we can get some from someone local at the moment, we will replace it.

We have just arranged for our British vet to give some Metacam to a family member in the UK, but he is not due to fly out until mid January 2012.

I would also be interested if anyone was flying out to Turkey from either Glasgow or Edinburgh over the Festive period and who was willing to bring this medication with them for us.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Andy,

I would be most grateful, if it's possible.

Our British vet, who we phoned, thinks the dog would be far better with Metacam.

The Rimadyl here is just not touching the pain, but Metacam, which is just not available here, is really effective for the severe pain he is in.

Okay Andy, if you can get me some, I will quite happily replace it in January.

My son has just picked up two 32ml bottles of Metacam from our UK vet this morning, but my son won't arrive here until the 16th Jan.

Cheers.

I have just spoken via Skype to my better other half who is coming out on Boxing Day. Sadly her local vets are closed & will only treat local emergencies, sorry but I did try!
