Need some help with a flight - Please!
« on: February 16, 2012, 17:06:16 PM »
Our 17 year old daughter is flying to Turkey with us at the end of July, but needs to fly home before the 18th August, as she is going on holiday in the UK with some friends.  She would like to stay until possibly the 10th-14th August.

I can't find any cheap-ish flights to get her home to Bristol or Cardiff, preferably a day time or early evening flight, so that she is not stranded in the middle of the night, waiting for someone to pick her up!  Most one way flights are around £200 which is crazy!!

Stupid question with the way flight prices have gone this year, but has anyone spotted anything that I may have missed?  Thomas Cook are out of the question as they wont fly under 18s without an adult present.

Thanks for any help.   :)

There are flights here with TC .  What about asking if anybody will allow her to check in with them?

Julesbob, I believe if you book Thomas Cook flight on line, the lead passenger has to be 18years of age.
However, if you book the flight in one of their holiday shops, they'll let her travel with a letter of consent at 17.
TC have a flight for £153.
Worth checking out in a local TC travel shop
Good luck

Jules :  Thomas Cook will fly her without an adult.  You just need to provide her with a letter of consent.  Lottie flew with them several times before she was 18.

slight change to topic but we booked our flights for the family with TC for easter then our sons friend who is 14 wanted to come. I rang TC to ask how I can add a child to the booking. Bizarrely I was told to make the booking making him an adult and put a false DOB on the booking, then ring up with both booking refs and they link the bookings and change the DOB to what it should be.
Therefore you may be able to book your daughter on the flight and ring up to change the DOB if they will let a 17 year old travel.
Please advise if you do get a work around as I have a 17 year old who needs to travel alone this summer.

Thanks everyone!   :)

I will try a TC shop I think as there are cheaper flights with them.  They have a live helpline when you go on their website, and I asked about her travelling alone.  The woman who replied said that she has to be 18 to travel with TC, for insurance reasons.  She didn't mention about booking through a TC shop, where the rules are different!!   8)

Thanks Eric - we need to get her a flight to send her home so we can book our trip!!!   8)
