Turkish Airlines

We have an internal flight booked at the end of August, from Dalaman to Istanbul.  This has been booked for months, but we have now had an email asking us to contact them as there is an amendment to the price!!   :o

On checking the website, the flights have gone up considerably to what we paid. I think we had the cheaper promotional seats which are limited and now sold out.  Surely they can't expect us to pay MORE than we originally paid [?]

I can't see them wanting to give us money back!!  :(

Have tried to call them, but couldn't get through so have emailed instead.  This will be interesting .......   8)

Has anyone else had any problems with Turkish Airlines?

Having just checked my booking on the website, it looks as if the flight has been amended to 10 minutes earlier!  Though they have cancelled the original flight, then put on another one (with the same flight number!) for ten minutes earlier!  [:o)]

Hope they're not planning on charging me more for that!!!!  (The email clearly states that there has been a "change to the tariff".)   :o[xx(][8)]

I have had an email stating that, when I eventually got through to the airline, they just wanted me to confirm that the time change was ok. Hope that's the case for you.

As far as I know if a price increase is more than 10%, you should have the right to cancel the booking without incurring any charges. Most of the airlines carry a "subject to"........ clause in the small print nowadays:(:.

I fly THY on average about once a week. Never had a problem with them on short or long haul.

After being let down by THY. I made a search about their safety, and had a surprise as I was thinking that it is a safe airline. It is 23rd in the list of 25 big European airlines according to http://planecrashinfo.com/rates.htm

But at least Turkish Airlines were not banned about 12 years ago
from flying to some european countries like Onur Air was, due to
safety concerns. At the same time, when I searched it, the UK was
also considering the same.

When you fly with BA, Air france or Lufthansa you see a total difference in quality and how bad they are compared to THY. I flew to Maui a few months ago with only one stop in LA and the Istanbul LAX trip was simply brilliant yet I did a similar trip with KLM to Seattle and it was complete torture.
For where I fly to normally there isnt much choice in airlines so thats why I have to rely on them all the time.
