I suspect that when Scunner updates the list, we'll find there's been a lot of anonymous pledges. I hope this is the case, rather than apathy.

Yes we do have a nice level of donations - I could have told you who they would be from before this even started - the same "usual suspects" that donate to most causes on here. I assume the other 8,950 members just want to use CBF to ask their questions and get their advice for free (saving paying a solicitor £200) and see no reason why they should want to give a little back - a box of colouring pencils for kids who have nothing or just keep the money in your pocket...difficult one :-\

Over 9,000 members on a website that we charge nothing for - and donations struggling to reach 20 after 3 days - absolutely bloody shameful. I'd love to post a list of the members who read the topic and walked on by - and how often they are members who came here with a problem that was solved here. People who were so grateful at the time, calling CBF "invaluable" and a "priceless" resource for people who have concerns. I guess I know what priceless means now...

What sort of people are they? "I love Turkey but not enough to give a fiver so kids can have a warm dry school" while asking which bank in Turkey is best to put their hundred grand into - thanks a bunch.

That is my final negative word on the subject I promise - many thanks to the kind folk who actually do give a sh1t.

So, apathy it may well be then!!!! Disgraceful!:(
If you have read or are reading this thread, and it hasn't touched your heart, then it's a swinging brick you've got. :(
Pencils, colouring books, basket balls, story books......PENNIES!!!!! You've wiped your ar, nose with more I'm sure.
Slippers for 10 yes, 10 kids = £18. A decent pair here would cost that.
I understand that it's not a third world country we are talking about, but they're needy....very needy....Fact. It's not the kids fault they find themselves in this position, but if you have a heart, please give something. It doesn't have to be anything on the list, it could be a fiver, less than the cost of a pack of cigs.

Maybe we should all be charged to use the forum and the proceeds go to the charities :)when all the new visa rules were being discussed on here and everyone knew to come here to get the correct facts one night I counted up 45 members on here in one go (sad I know!)I agree it is shameful a fiver a head would amount to a lot of money and would go a long long way to the school project. Even if you dont have Paypal you could arrange to leave at a bar for someone from  the three C's to pick up.I have not forgotton that I said I will be leaving my Christmas card money to Animal Aid and even though we dont arive until April with Christmas long forgotton I will still leave it. Before I started going to Turkey I do admit I was quite materialistic but when I have seen people going through bins to hopefully make a bit of money and some people have so little, it has changed me and I believe this to be a good thing :)

People here, including us, already donate to charities and good causes, including the 3 c's.

I for one object to your above rant just because I have not donated via Paypal to the CBF account.
I support the 3C's and therefore support this campaign but not through CBF.
Please do not classify everyone who has not donated through CBF non supporters.

Well Fi, there's few as easily offended as those who go out of there way looking to be.

Can you believe that actually opposite to your view that I "classify everyone who has not donated through CBF non supporters", that I, probably know better than most who makes an effort to support local causes and who doesn't. Was my post directed at Andy & Pauline who work tirelessly to improve the lives of local animals? NO. Or Baz & Kaz the same? NO. Am I disgusted that Anne (mercury), Pete & Chrissie haven't stuck £20 in for the CBF cause, OF COURSE NOT. What about the ladies at FIG - not a penny from even one of them...no, not those guys either...

If you are looking to be offended you won't have far to look, living over in expat Turkey. Sadly you won't find it in this topic. I know exactly who I mean, so do you, and so do they. But thanks for the dramatics.
