Hope they weren't drinking that nasty Efes as well ,terrible   ;) Can't wait till June !

I'm glad you agree that Efes is pretty nasty...  even the Efes reps agree it's a pretty horrible brew!

That was my attempt at sarcasm, actually quite like it.  ;)

Great photos, thank you. I've never seen this place before but it sounds like a great experience. Roll on September!

I smoke, drink Efes, have a shaved head and tattoos.I am also a nice guy with a nice family and have a very responsible job,in fact the type of job that has taught me not to be too quick to judge book by its cover.I have also owned a home in the Calis area for almost 7 years ,if I had the same attitude as the writer I would not have bought in this lovely place, had some of the life enhancing experiences that go with it nor met half of the good people I have.

Weird as it may sound, even when it was derelict it had a certain "something" about it - a real feeling of wasted potential. A little square tucked away right in the middle of the resort with a fountain in the middle - what's not to like  :)

Brenda spent a couple evenings at Gitarci during her recent visit and although she said the furnishings were fairly basic she thoroughly enjoyed the ambience of the place and agreed that it provided a pleasant contrast to bars on the front.

She would recommend that you give it a try.

Sorry to offend but it was our 2nd visit to Calis and the first, last September, was lovely and everyone was so nice but this time (we came back on Monday) the people staying in Calis seemed a little "Chavvier" ... Is this normal? Do the types of people change from month to month?

Also seemed that far more people were Smoking and many more with Tattoos. Seemed to be catering for the Full English Breakfast rather than traditional Turkish Foods ... dare I say going down market?

Or am I just a Snob?

From the tone of your post, yes you are a snob.  Shock........Horror!!!!!  What a narrow perspective you have on life.  Bet you are  bundle of laughs on a night out.  I do smoke but have no tattoos but managed to hold down a managerial post until I retired and then looked after my mother-in-law, who had alzheimers, for six years, in my opinion contributing a fair amount and making her final years as comfortable as possible .  I enjoy life to the full and don't waste valuable time complaining about others lifestyle .  There is a very old saying "don't judge a book by its cover".  Perhaps you should ponder on this and loosen up!

We went last night.  Lovely atmosphere, quite a few Turkish people eating and drinking there.  Food was good and probably the cheapest we have paid for drinks and a meal.  Would advise anyone to give it a try.  We also eat at the prom, so must we now shave our heads and get tattoos to fit in?
