Mibur, I have a funny story (well, I think it's funny - I'm sure our friend doesn't find it quite so hilarious!  :D ) about that outbound flight on Sunday from Birmingham.

It was our friend's 50th birthday last Friday, but we couldn't make his party as we already had other plans.  We suggested a drink (or two :P) on Saturday night to keep the celebrations going, but he had a longish drive (from South Wales) to Birmingham on Sunday so decided against it!

To cut a long story short, as he was checking in, he handed over his passport - only to realise he had taken his daughter's by mistake!!!  He was mortified, and quickly made some phone calls home, and his daughter began the long (and probably very fast) drive up to Birmingham with his passport!  Obviously, she didn't make it in time, and the flight (complete with his wife!) left without him.  He made arrangements to fly the following day instead, and checked into a hotel for the night.  The next thing he heard - the pilot had been taken ill, and the flight had been forced to land at Gatwick!

He spoke to the people on duty at Monarch, and they were superb.  They refunded him in full for the following days flight and informed him that the flight was due to leave at 8am on Monday morning.  He just missed the train to London (by 2 minutes) so had a long wait for the next one, but eventually got to Gatwick Hilton very late on Sunday night, with ample time to check in (this time with the correct passport!) and fly out with his wife!!!

I bet he was the only person who was more than happy with the delayed flight!!!!    :) :-\ :o:D:P
