Uzumlu weather
« on: May 31, 2012, 14:28:26 PM »
Hi all. Tell me about the weather in Uzumlu. I'm told that the mountain breezes are very welcome in the hight of the summer but it is also the case that April and October could be quite cold there? Peter and I are looking at a house there. We love the look and sound of the area and the house is gorgeous but we probably would only come out in April and October ourselves and would love to get a bit of that lovely sun and a chance to swim in our pool. I know this year hasn't been all that fantastic but it's been rubbish everywhere most of the year. I'm really interested in general weather news for those times. Any thoughts?

Even at sea level (Calis) most of the pools are not open in April or October, as the nights are still on the chilly side & the water retains little heat overnight.

Swim in a dry suit in April and October...brrrrr
Weather in April is sometimes good and sometimes not...
Oct is usually better but again you can have storms on odd days.
If you want to guarantee use of a pool you will need to visit late May,June,July,Aug or early Sept.

I agree with Honey Bee - our pool is always ready for our Easter visits.  This year Mr Pookie (and a few guests) used it during the last week of April and whilst very cold I'm told it was lovely.  I am afraid I was sitting on the side watching the expressions, which said enough for me !!   We have used the pool in October, but as Liz says the evenings get very cool and the heat is lost.  We are investing in a pool cover to help it maintain some of its heat for longer.  There is more to Uzumlu than the weather though.....and we love the village life and atmosphere.  We visit through out the winter and love the crisp mornings of January and february.  Wonderful !

I think things also depend on you - I mean, how you adjust to things. We used to holiday in May (1st week normally) and would be in the pool every day. When we lived there early May was ludicrous as far as swimming goes, way too cold. The pool wouldn't even be filled until very late June.

In regard to Uzumlu weather, I must say that while I am not one for life up a hill in a village, I'd much prefer Uzumlu's weather. I'd happily trade 5 to 10 degrees off August's temperatures and have a 5-10 degree colder winter.

I warmed (pardon the pun) to the village during my 6 month stay in the area last year. I found it interesting with some culture that others don't have however for me it's too remote in the winter, Calis defo has the edge with availability of things to do. 1 thing that is unrivalled is the warm welcome from Ian & Sener at the Winehouse, you would have to go a long way to beat that on a Tue quiz night in winter!
