Bars with Pools

You would not only be warmly welcomed in many places some actively encourage visitors on the assumption it will bring them some additional revenue from sales of drinks, snacks and meals.

Are we really saying that if someone goes to Nevadu Su, for example, and buys an Efes that they would be entitled to free use the Spa facilities at that Hotel.

It's down to the hotel owners really, and of course using their facilities doesn't include the spas and treatments. It's simply to enjoy sitting in the sun by a pool, have a good meal and if we feel like it have a swim.  The Ece Saray hotel in Fethiye charged 20 tl per head a few years ago to use a sun bed and pool. We tried it and had a meal as usual but it wasn't great. Yacht classic wins every time and they probably benefit from us spending money with them just because they're so kind and welcoming. (good business just like the Sundial). I don't think we're stealing anyone's place on a sun bed at all. If hotels invite people to use the beds they should ensure there are enough as the Yacht Classic does. If it caused any problems with the residents  no doubt they'd stop it.

That's interesting about The Ece Sayar Lotty. I wonder how many non residents would be willing to pay to use a sun bed and pool.

I agree with Highlander, if you want to sit by a pool with a pool bar, then book accomodation with a poolbar, there's plenty available! If only a pool and no pool bar, then why not support the local shop and go buy a 4 pack of efes and a bottle of wine to drink with your fresh bread, cold meats, olives & salad also purchased from the said local shop & enjoy it by the said pool    That's what we always do and will be doing again this year!

we use Malhun's hotel pool, normally the older hotel on the other side of the road rather than the sea front one, quiter and always sunbeds free there

Yes I agree, if we were having a 2-3 week holiday we'd book an hotel with a pool but we've rented long term and there is no pool.  We only like to use a pool now and again so it's not like we do it every day or even every week. I'm sure most bars or hotels would put their customers first anyway. We support all the local shops and restaurants too because we mostly eat 3 meals a day at home but like to eat out regularly too.

Whilst I'm enjoying everyone's views on this subject the original poster asked the question of where to find hotels that allow use of their pools to non residents.  So, any more suggestions?

Sorry Anne! easy to get carried away sometimes. These are hotels I know that encourage people to enjoy their pool, beds etc - Yacht Classic, The Sundial, Mutlu on Calis front and Gunays Garden in Kaya. As long as it's not at the expense of their guests and you buy refreshments. We have also stayed in these in the past (except Sundial). Friends who live in Fethiye often enjoy a day at Hotel Mediteran near the boatyard. Hope this helps.

My apologies too Anne - if mkwhite means the Letoon end, then I understand that Letoon might allow non residents.

I seem to remember Alif saying there was a problem with insurance but I may be wrong and I'm not sure what he meant.

Oh, by the way    how would a renter of accommodation on a private complex with a pool bar feel if they arrived back, hot and bother after a morning at the market, looking forward to a cold Efes by the pool only to find that there were no loungers available because some of them were being used by hotel residents from Letoon, Sevi and/or Grand Vizion.
