Hello from new member

Hello everyone. Just tentatively come across this site today and thought I'd join. I holidayed in Hisaronu last year and I'm returning there this year, and am already a member on a forum for that area. I also used to be a member of the Degalyian forum but that has disappeared into thin air!! Hardly ever posted, but I did read it now and again.
As I said, I came across this forum whilst trying to search for anything which would tell me what happened to the Degalyian forum. There were some who were not fans of the Calis beach site on that forum, which is why I use the word 'tentatively'. I have no idea why, and so far I must say everyone seems like a really friendly bunch, so hopefully I'll be welcome to join in once I find my feet!

I have only been a member for a few months but everyone is very friendly so just post away.

There was definitely some rivalry between the 2 camps (not always friendly but certainly very funny).

I think the forum went up in a puff of smoke (or Gary did) and Mrs. Turkey went off to form her own forum. Theres a thread somewhere about it all - take it all with a pinch of salt, we are very protective of our administrators!!

More importantly have fun, now you've come up from the "dark side" (only joking) you will find nobody has two heads (well except just a few members)just a love of Turkey, it's people and it's culture.

Thanks for the welcome! Was a bit nervous about my first post and how it would be received.
I must admit I know very little about Calis Beach, but I'm sure I'll learn lots through this forum.

I know the story behind Degalyian's demise - sort of - but maybe you can enlighten me on what has happened to all the fivers. Have you asked for yours back?

Hi Topcat, don't worry I was member of "the other one" too but have always been treated very well here, they are a friendly bunch with lots of info.  I'm going to Calis for the first time in August for 2 weeks hol, only done Gumbet before (twice), can't wait! I hope to eventually live in Turkey but its a long way off yet.

Hi Topcat, welcome to the real forum for Calis/Fethiye lovers. There is plenty of useful information here as many of us have been through the process of buying property and all have stories to tell. You will soon find it quite addictive.

Thanks everyone. Just holidaying in Turkey for now, with no plans to buy....but you never know! This year will only be the second year we've been there so probably a bit early days to think about buying. Might think differently when I come home this year!
