Sat Restaurant
« on: July 08, 2012, 16:21:46 PM »
Had been a couple of years since a visit to this place, but went a week ago and had a marvelous meal and evening. Food service and view perfect. Although a little more expensive than others we can certainly recommend a visit.    :)

We paid them a visit when over in May.  Waited more than half an hour before leaving without as much as a nod.
Won't waste our time going again.

I have lived here for 7 years and have tried nearly every place to eat and drink in the area and have never waited more than 5mins before someone wanted my order.I am not saying it dıd not happen but after a short wait why did no one ask one of the many waiters there to serve them.I am sure that they would have wanted to take your money. The sat is normally very well run and the service is very attentive. It is not my first choice for eveing meals but for drinks, views, beach club perfect and the sunday buffet breakfast is a winner. And yes I know the efes is a bit expensive :)

Last year and earlier this year they took their eye off the service, this year maybe when setting uo for the big season. The couple of vists since the service and attention has been very very good. we compare only with brunch time. Lots of Turkish folk too. Yes the extra expence is worth it in our opinion.  :)

Went to Şat a couple of weeks ago with a few friennds over for a visit from England.
We were really looking forward to it, because we had had an excellent meal there a year or so ago.
Still the same unrivalled view, of course, and spotlessly clean!
HOWEVER!
The food was dreadful!
Seafood pasta was tasteless, the chicken fajita had never heard of Mexico, or chilli for that matter!
The most expensive meal was described as an 'Oak Steak'. It was served like it was in a Hisaronu or Marmaris cheap restaurant. It was on a wooden board with piped mashed potato around the outside, the type you see made from plastic outside rough places. The meat was OK, but only OK.
Overall, it was a bad (and rather embarrassing) experience. I will definately not revisit (other than for drinks) again until something drastic changes.

I must agree that their 'Oak Steak' was rather disappointing. I'm not sure what I expected but 'Oak' made me think it was maybe cooked on an oak fuelled fire or something - turns out it looks like it was served on an oak board! The taste was quite bland and we all thought the same.

I'd heard such great things about Sat but I won't be rushing back. Yes it's clean. Yes it's got a great view (as many have if you get there at the right time) and yes the service is very good.....

But 20YTL for a G&T and 39YTL for my steak made me expect much more really.

Same feelings here. Only had a drink in Sat before, so the wife decided this year she wanted to eat there last Tuesday

Firstly after being in Calis for 9 days prior, you get to know roughly what prices things are on average..........as soon as I opened the menu I thought..... ok, the starters are nearly as expensive as the mains in some of the restaurants along the beach

We opted out of starters (well I did, and then Jan said she wouldn't sit and eat one on her own, so we didn't have any) Funny, she never says that when the deserts come out ;o) hehe

For main I decided to have meatballs, and Jan had Fajita's.

Never had the Fajita's seen a mexican spice in there lives...... tasteless apparently. On the plus side, the side dips of salsa etc came in handy if you picked the meatballs.

Now when I have had meatballs before, It would be safe to assume...... meat - ball shaped & in a sauce....... possibly with rice or pasta ?

What I actually received was 5 meat patties/ burger shaped things that had been grilled/bbq'd..... They were placed on top of a tortilla wrap that had been cut into 4 quarters. Obligatory rice mound, and some chips.......... to say it was the most dry thing I had ever tried to eat was saying something, the shingle on the beach would have been moister !! Luckily the salsa dips etc from the Fajita's came in handy

Safe to say I won't be returning, which is a shame as the venue is lovely.

I don't over worry about how much drinks are on holiday but 20 YTL for a G&T! We paid less for whisky & cokes in one of the main rows of restaurants in notoriously expensive Venice, looking over St. Mark's Basin - just a few steps from the bridge of Sighs. Sat is a nice setting but not 20YTL a drink nice!!!
