I was just about to post a question about temperatures after someone just told me they've just returned from Olu Deniz and it was hitting 52! We've been checking weather sites daily and it's showing 33 - 36 for the next week! Obviously a little bit inaccurate.

I have a friend who worked for The Met. Office, and he told me that broadcasted temps, ( News progs. etc), are those taken at the local Met. Office at Noon in the shade !! Pick the bones out of that one !!

I think the sensor for that display MUST be in full sun.  Or at the very least, trapped inside that sign.  Whereas normal temperatures are taken in the shade.

Having said this, I will say, it is very hot and sticky here and I will be glad when things cool a little, or at least, get less humid.

That photo has been doing the rounds for the last month or so, it has been photo shopped so many times I have lost count.  I do not for one minute think that it is in Fethiye, Calis or anywhere else nearby.

I have to say i hate it when i see on facebook '53 degrees in ____' yes, its bloody hot but temperatures on the weather forecast are ALWAYS in the shade, and that's what everyone normally goes by. Of course its going to be a lot hotter in direct sunlight. My dad had a watch that told the temperature and its said 40+oc in England before because its a glass watch face, obviously its going to get very hot in the direct sun.

Doesn't change the fact its boiling though, we live in karagedik and have to walk 15mins to the nearest bus/shop/anything lol, going out to get food or for a walk is a mission! Don't have aircon either, the fans on 24/7, can't wait to see our electric bill, eeeeek.
