The nearest butter to English is from Bim in a blue and gold packet. It is also quite cheap. You can buy Lurpak at the pork shop and occasionally at Kippa but it is VERY expensive. I would try the Bim butter first/ I think it is about 3.50TL

Bim is the best one that we have found.

I used to grind salt up very finely and soften the butter. I would then gradually add the salt into the softened butter. This made it taste a bit more like the butter I had in the U.K.

I used to dissolve salt in a tiny amount of boiling water then whip it into the warmish butter, then make it into a butter shape again and stick it in the fridge  :)

Or, they used to sell Dutch salted butter in Migros - that wasn't cheap either but as a treat why not. Butter, a treat - how sad were we :D

I agree sad or what. I used to find myself hankering after foods that I wouldn't even eat in the U.K. and getting excited to find salt & vinegar crisps. Maybe thats the ex-pat mentality.

I buy lurpak all the time here. I know what you mean about the butter as it tastes like the local cheese as if its made from rancid milk.

I have seen Lurpack on sale in Kippa but it was expensive.   I use Migros own, its not greasy like a lot of butter is and I just sprinkle some salt on it and mix it up together on my plate.

I have to agree with above statements regarding Bim butter, the 1kg pack, best I have found.
