I have been asking people who have told me they have hired a car and so far not one single person has seen this free guide!!! We only had  a few copies so not enough to hand out to everyone.

Has anyone here who has hired a car actually seen this in hard copy?

I know that those of you who have commented here have downloaded a copy but that doesn't reach everyone.

I have passed on this feedback to Şemsi but I find it very disappointing that such a useful guide is not being distributed as it was intended.

I would be grateful for the following information specifically

1. the name of the car hire company

2. did you or didn't you get a copy with the car

Thanks

Nichola

My brother in law hired a car from Pegasus in Fethiye in August. There wasn't one in his car.

I have received some new information today which I have more or less just copied below. I had assumed that it had been distributed around all the hire car companies but did wonder yesterday after I emailed Şemsi if it was confined to those linked to the Tour Operators. Anyway, I did receive a reply from one of the tour operator staff who explained...

The project is funded by the big 2 Tour Operators.....Thomas Cook and TUI and therefore most of the booklets are distributed by them.

They have also been given to Europcar and to Dalaman Cars.

It was stressed that feedback is important to the Travel Foundation and collecting in questionnaires is a key part of the Driving Booklet which is why they haven't been given out more widely but where follow up can be made to with those that receive them.

I was asked to recommend reliable car hire companies and have suggested Pegasus and Orange as these are the names that keep cropping up.

I have a copy of the evaluation form here so I will at some point soon scan it and post it here for anyone who would like to give feedback.

Brilliant, we travel a lot when there, last trip went up Mount Eren and to lake , OK track a bit dodgy here and there but not bad, we also drove up to Cameli, incredible views, then back via Antilyaya. The routes further away via Seki, Elmali and back via Gombe and Kalkan lovely. The drive to Kekova Island is lovely and a fish lunch by the harbour wonderful.

Really, the guide is great, I just wish I had the time to write one including those places but also others. The coast route to Antalya if you have time is wonderful stop at Olympus, Chimera, Phaeselis on the way etc.

Sigh, so much to see from Calis Beach !

Went To look at Marmaris and Icmeler as well last trip out, (omg been back in UK only 4 days and weeping in my Raki already!), like Dr Foster, shant go there again!

I used pegasus, very competitive, fell out with them when they delivered petrol instead of diesel, but they delivered me nice Diesel that evening although I wasnt to impressed at 10pm but very apologetic and I will use them again.

I actually find it doesnt matter much, I have now used 5 different hire companies and all seemed the same!

On our return from a weekend in Marmaris last weekend we actually took what we now know as the Iztuzu and Pomegranate route in the Driving Guide posted by Nichola. The info and directions are spot on. It is a day out we will be sharing with family and friends next year. The boat trip to Iztuzu from Dalyan is good but this is a great new way to enjoy. Restaurant Golbasi would be our stop for Kahvalti next visit you are able to see the Turtles there too as the restaurant is on the inlet. The beach car parking is good as is the sand and swimming. Great for children too. the beach restaurant huts have a good range of food and drink and is not overpriced. Very highly recommended and so do-able in the day from our areas.

Coming over in 2 weeks Nichola, and using Dalaman Cars as usual, so I will let you know if they give me a copy. I hope they do as we are looking forward to taking a few trips off and the guide looks really useful.
