Why Bother With Seatbelts ?

Sadly that is precisely true. We, as I am sure others will say the same, have lost great Turkish friends, *entirely* due to the no seatbelt culture over there. Collisions that are little more than an insurance pain here in the UK are all too often a fatality in Turkey.

Wow KKOB!  What an amazing post.  Glad I read it now and not first thing this morning.  We have just been out in our vintage car and it doesn't have seatbelts.  A year or so ago a friend of a friend died in an accident in their vintage car and wouldn't have died if they had been wearing seatbelts.  Ever since then I've been much more nervous.  Poor Peter.  Every time we go out he gets the lecture - as nicely as I can, honestly! - about not driving too closely to the car in front.  He's a superb driver and I do genuinely feel as safe as I could under the circumstances but I confess it makes me nervous.  Now I'm thinking about the poor emergency services that would have to scrape us off the roads.  It's a truly wonderful thing to have the privilege of owning this car but...  Poor Constable Chaos.   :o :(
