Pegasus Sub Contracted by T.Cook.
« on: September 27, 2012, 15:29:48 PM »
We booked two sets of flights for this year both through T.C. First at the end of May was using T.C. Flights.
Second flight in September was using Pegasus.  There was no way any customer would know this as all the documentation was for Flythomascook, the only clue was the flight number which started with PC. So, we could not book seats in advance or meals and had no idea if we could take a Wedding Dress on board.  To cut a long story short.  Contacted Flythomascook. they told us to contact T.Cook contacted T.C. they told us to contact Flythomas cook round and around in circles.  Eventually got a number for Pegasus who told me "Lady we don't fly from Aberdeen, you made mistake".  Got in touch with Trading Standards, who contacted T.C.  The result was they are investigating T.C. for not telling customers their flights are sub-contracted and that they, the cusomer, cannot contact anyone to get any information about the flights.
After a while got a call from Trading Standards who gave me a direct number to ring T.Cook rang the number and was told to contact Fly Thomas Cook.  Not a person accustomed to swearing I really had a hard time containing myself.  Explained the situation and the girl told me that T.C had sub contracted the flight to Pegasus but no one on the flight could pre book seats etc., because they, T.Cook, did not give Pegasus any flight details until 72 hours before the flight. The T.C. Representative gave me the direct website details of luggage allowed on Pegasus flights.  Turned out it was 8 kilos of hand luggage and not 5 kilos as T.C had printed on the tickets.    We took the dress in hand luggage and arrived early at the Airport.  It was a breeze, no one enquired about hand luggage or weighed it.   The plane was modern, with comfy seats and head rests and lots of leg room.  No hard sell on the flight with attendants going up and down every five minutes.  They even brought a menu around, but because we could not get information about the food and T.C. had said they did not know if there was food, we brought some with us.
Return flight was also very good, I hope T.C. will sub contract to Pegasus again as it was a pleasure to fly with them.  However, it would be good if they could pre-book seats and advertise the fact they had food on board.  As we had to turn up early for flights at both ends to guarantee seats together.

I am sure that Thomas Cook Holidays will be using Easyjet flights for some of their package deals next year too.

Monarch use Aurelia from Lithuania! They have been doing it all year apparently. Old planes and non English speaking staff. Not good is it?

Well I know it goes on - but expect a lot more of it from Thomas Cook in future. Due to their dire financial situation of recent times they have sold a number of planes but still run pretty much the same number of routes. Can't be done without the use of someone else's planes.

We have often used Pegasus, a few years back Tc were using, the people who booked pegasus had a much better deal than those who booked TC. I hoped that yhey were going to drop TC, no luck there then.

we used TC for flights 3 times this year from ABZ, May no probs, Sept no probs but July you couldnt write the script, little bit of haze hanging about, checked in, flight was making approach to ABZ but pilot diverted to Glasgow, couldnt land in ABZ due to fog, fog my Jim Royle, sent home approx midnight, come back tomorrow at 10 oclock, i thought thats not bad but then it was 10 at night, arrived ABZ now there was definitely fog, bussed to glasgow 1230am arrive GLW 0330 hrs depart GLW 0630 hrs arrive at apartment in Gunlukbasi at 1400 hrs Wed, now that was Pegasus but got to agree with the rest about planes etc. Mon 17/09/12 Pegasus flight was cancelled for no reason and all put up in hotels and left later on next day, so it is a bit of a lottery im afraid, will still be flying with them for next year.

We booked two return flights in December 2011 one for the end of May one for September.  Booked with T.Cook.  They at no time told us the second flight was with Pegasus and the only way anyone would have know was the flight number on the second flights i.e. September was PC and not TC .  Of course, once T.C. use another airline, there is no way you can get in touch with that airline to pre-book anything. This is the point that Trading Standards are taking up with them, the lack of communication.
