Flight stats
« on: October 27, 2012, 08:55:36 AM »
I've recently had cause to check the progress of a couple of flights, one from Alicante and the other from Dalaman. I've never see this facility before ,  maybe other forum members have but though both airport websites there is the facility to check progress of the flights using flight stats. It's amazing! You can see where on the journey the flight is , how long exactly is left on the flight and also some interesting data on recent reliability around punctuality. It's ace! However I can't find the facility on our airport sites on the foreign ones! Certainly not linked to Leeds Bradford.

Flightradar is also available for iphone/ipad - it's great for watching friends taking off for their holidays and sitting in the park and seeing a plane above, then after a quick referral to your phone saying "ah, the BA Aberdeen to Heathrow shuttle is on time again".

Oh yes, being a nerd has never been so much fun.

Just search Flightradar24 in Google Play and you can download it for Android too. You have a choice of the free version or you can get the professional version for less than £2.

I'm not going to rely entirely on the data that Flightradar supplies on the iphone app. Not since it showed an easyjet had made an emergency call during it's short flight from Glasgow to Belfast, and was forced to make an emergency landing at...Marseilles airport??!!

Could that be one of the reasons they say iPhones are 5h1t?
