Went to see it last night with great expectation of seeing our lovely beach and surrounding area in the film, we also hoped to spot some familiar faces as just about every bar worker and boat owner we had spoken to claimed to an extra in the film.
In May this year we watched as literally hundreds of film crew set up a village opposite the surf cafe and then set about building a brilliant beach bar on escape beach and then decorating the set with classic cars, market stalls, neon signs, tables and chairs from Guvens and even a multi coloured rowing boat on the beach for great visual effect. So, you can imagine our anticipation while sat in a cinema in Liverpool last night when very early in the film we see Bond sat at the bar on Calis beach, he is surrounded by a cheering crowd as he downs a large scotch with a scorpion perched on his hand, will the scorpion sting him before he knocks back his drink? Well, I won't spoil it for you but that's was about it ! 20 seconds of footage that could have been shot in the Rovers Return !
So, like us, don't go along expecting to see a Calis travelogue, but if its a classic Bond action movie with terrific special effects, then it's definitely a film for you. We really enjoyed it.
