A little late perhaps but just wanted to say that I am proud to have known the founder of the firm I work for William M Souter, kbown to everyone as Bill.
A totally unassuming man who during his 3 years, 10months and 6 days abroad during World War 2 racked up a total of 1335 flying hours all on single engined aircraft - 52 sorties on Mohawks, 78 on Hurricanes and 122 on Thunderbolts. A total of 252 sorties against the Japanese
On 10 February 1945, Bill received a telegram from his father congratulating him on winning the DFC (the first he had heard of it). In April of that year he was promoted to Squadron Leader and in August 1945 Bill was awarded a Bar to his DFC.
A remarkable man.
