Sunshine holidays - Dolphin Beach Hotel
« on: February 18, 2013, 12:38:58 PM »
We've just had our June fortnight accommodation cancelled by Sunshine holidays.  >:(
('Holiday Brokers have offered you alternative accommodation in the Anna Apartments.' ;)
I assume that they will subsequently cancel our September fortnight at The Dolphin.
Any recommendations (or not) for the Anna ?
I can only assume that The Dolphin has stopped dealing with Sunshine (or have they closed ?)

My daughter stayed at Anna Apartments about 3 years ago. At that time they were clean, but very basic and quite small, but they were only a couple, maybe family apartments a bit bigger. They were quite happy as the price was very cheap.

I stayed at the Anna 2 years ago and NEVER again!  The room was cramped even though I was on my own.  The shower had mould and mildew and had a nasty damp smell.  One of the young Turkish men who waited on tables, thought he was a 'comedian' but he was forward, rude and far from funny.  He was actually arrested for sticking a glass in someone's face at some nightclub, but strangely enough he got 'out' of jail!  Lots of ex-pats drank in the bar  which I may add sometimes closed 'early'.  They locked the gates and unbeknown to me you had to enter by the side entrance which was not lit and difficult to find. One night one of the guests was shouting about the manager running a 'knocking shop' and threatening to tell his wife.  As a lone female, I felt really uneasy so, for me - NEVER AGAIN.
Re The Dolphin Beach Hotel - ring Mehemet and ask him what the situation is.  He's in the UK at the moment.  If I speak to him, I'll let you know.

That is slightly worrying, we have just booked through Sunshine for a hotel in Calis for June.   Did they give you any reason for the cancellation ?

I've used Sunshine for years and never had a cancellation or any problem including bookings in Calis and other countries - I assume the Dolphin Beach may have done a deal with one of their competitors - possibly an exclusive one. I booked the Mutlu last year with them, this year the hotel does not appear on Sunshine due to striking an exclusive deal with Thomson.

I'm sure the Dolphin Beach hotel situation is just to do with that hotel - I wouldn't worry about Sunshine bookings for other hotels. I better not worry, I have booked with them myself for this year    :)

I agree re sunshine, we've never had a problem either. However I'd see if there's an alternative to anna, not good! See if they're offering the Area?

No problem with Sunshine.  It's just that the Dolphin has been 'sold'.  I daresay the new owner will nominate a company to advertise the hotel. Who knows, they may use Sunshine.  I spoke to Mehmet last night.  It's to be hoped that the new owners are as hospitable as Mehmet.

A refurbished Dolphin would be ample compensation for our cancellation   :)
A super location - where better to eat breakfast than on Calis seafront !!!!

I had a similar situation a few years back. There is a piece of law called ' loss of bargain'

You can basically tell them which accommodation you feel is a fair alternative to the one you chose.

In our case they tried to send us to somewhere in Ovacik, and they tried to argue it was still Fethiye, but we were advised by trading standards or whatever they're called now that they can't do this.
So we opted for the Harman and were very happy.
