anything can be deemed as sexual harrassment now if there is a complaint, same as racial prejudice and human rights...

light fuse and stand well back...

Scunner's opening post regarding a piece of paper being passed over reminded me of an incident that happened when I was interviewing a very overconfident young man.  My colleague passed me a note which said "looks like a double glazing salesman, talks like a double glazing salesman, dresses like a double glazing salesman - even his glasses are double glazed".  Had to leave the office for a couple of minutes.

Definately immature, but unless she did something about it at the time why bring it up.
Only one side to the story so can't judge what his intentions were,  but as we see from recent media coverage there are a lot of sickos out there.

It's sad that drawing a willy is even thought of as sexual harassment by silly women like her (and Jacqui yes I looked it up and it was Lowri Turner - I have no idea what she is famous for?) - there is nothing more amusing than trying to shock someone at just the right/wrong moment. I once waited for that bit in a wedding where they ask if anyone knows an reason etc to speak now - to stick a huge safety pin into my mate's leg. Immature? Yes. Funny? you bet :D

I have never drawn a picture of a willy and used it to get a cheap laugh but I can't think of any reason why I wouldn't - and it would never cross my mind that I was sexually harassing someone!

It shows how far things are allowed to go. I remember a salesman who joined a company the same day I did coming into the office I was in and walking behind a secretary who was typing, looking at her screen while for no apparent reason putting his arms round from the back and giving her breasts a hearty wiggle, complete with accompanying "wayhayhay". On his first day!!! This was in the 1990s and he was given a strict talking to, no more. Today, you'd get more for drawing a willy.

I've always found a handshake is sufficient when meeting new colleagues for the first time.

..and verbal abuse - it was called 'name-calling' at one time and most of us just learned to ignore it.  Sticks and stones etc.  Things are taken so seriously these days and people throw the word "abuse" around willy nilly

still laughing at keiths post about the new starter! just thinking about how that would go down here- OMG!!
I remember being in the chorus of a local am dram group many years ago and we were giving our 'My fair lady ' to the good citizens of Leeds. On this particular night a few of us playing young maids were on stage singing when our 'Professor Higgins' flashed at us from the wings! of course those pros amongst us carried on but it was enough to bring on a fit of the giggles in some- naturally the intention! he would probably be shot now!
I deal with cases of alleged bullying and harrassment quite regularly here and it always comes down to the how the recipient of the communication received it! In other words , very vague and open to interpretation.

Have to agree with Tinx on this, if this had happened at work, and taken to Industrial Tribunal, it WOULD be looked upon as 'sexual harassment'.

Yes that may be true - but the question isn't about whether it would be looked upon as sexual harassment, the question is, is it sexual harassment?  :)
