The end for some...
« on: March 03, 2013, 13:00:04 PM »
Ventured out for a wander into Calis today... a few changes occuring and a few businesses emptying too. First we noticed that Taurean Properties office had been completely emptied and it looks like the Bombay corner has been emptied too. The windows are covered up so we couldn't have a good old nosey, very deserted! Barbarella restaurant is up for rent, and the nightclub (downstairs) below Guneş ışık (Frank Cannons). Although that place seems to be up for rent every year. I had a little chat with Eddie and he said that Chinese Breeze was up for rent, and the Orient too.

Calis Beach restaurant has a big neon sign outside saying Indian restaurant, I wait with baited breath to see if they are another one with a genuine chef from Bradford.

The sign to Calis Beach Restaurant, on the back road, also indicates that it is now an Indian restaurant, but when I walked passed on the prom, there's no menu displayed, so can't confirm.

Well, I find that usually the best Indian Food is either cooked in the family home or in an area such as Rusholme in Manchester where the Asians eat and the competition if fierce, about 100 restaurants in total now I beleive.

Oustide of that it is usually poor substitute british style sloppy Curry mainly cooked by Bangladeshi guys whom once watched someone cook!

Would be wonderful if there was a proper Indian restaurant in Calis but I cant see it ever happening! Unless a real Turkish Chef wants to come stay with us for a while and The "Memsahib" who was born and bred in Jamshedpur can give him true lessons? There is of course the simplicity of Indian food which is against it in the Restaurant business, preparation is all, and each dish should be cooked individually and bearing mind that can easily take 1-2 hours ---

Best Restaurants I know may have 4-5 starters, 3-4 main courses on the menu, (and when one is gone it is gone!), and strict timings, for example Dinner starts at 7pm and last orders 8.30 pm. Also the ones where you ordder fopr the following day and at an agreed time -- wonderful food!

Anyway this post was more abouit changes in calis but I am famous for my Rabbit! Its also Sunday and this gets me away from the weeding!

Calis Beach Restaurant will be Indian at the start of the season, I believe.

The waiters and kitchen staff will be the ones who previously worked at Bombay Corner.

The business does not belong to Bombay owner but to some of the workers.
