So very close Heather
Right, for 42 years I've worked as a hairdresser. For the last 20 of them, I combined 2 careers . I went into Socail Care and worked in Childrens homes and Residential schools with troublesome/troubled young people. I continued my hairdressing in the evenings and at weekends. I got enticed back into a salon in 1998 and decided to do both jobs, part time each. 7 years ago I gave up residential work and jumped ship to be on the side of the young people by becoming a trained advocay worker for them. I ensure that their rights are upheld at Children's Hearings Reviews, Court etc. This took up 3 days of my week with the other 2 spent in a salon in my local area.
I did however decided to eventually give up the salon for good last September and took on full time advocacy work, still doing some clients hair at their home or mine, evening and weekends. The advocacy job has lots of unsociable hours and I was hardly seeing my darling hubby. As have a very busy lifestyle, I took the decision to go part time starting 2nd week in February this year. So I've just had 4 weeks of having some time to myself after all these years. If I'm honest, I'm finding it hard to fill my couple of days off. In the long term I know it's the right thing to do, but when the snow melts and I cant get up skiing, I don't know what I'll do!!!! Coffee, cake and wine are an option
So there you have it folks, - my career history! Told you it was nothing special.
