Oooer - Hollands going down the drain?? We used to get some great meat pies from a place in Todmorden called Astins on the yorkshire/lancashire border we had them for years until i moved away.
Sadly they were closed down after being found to be putting alsation in their pies

Marggie - no chance - sorry its a family secret that only i now know - suffice to say it won the worlds FIRST Dock pudding championship many many moons ago. The town ended up full of Yuppies who all thought they could cash in and market the stuff but dont have a clue how to make it properly. Its all down to the size of the 'dock' the ingredients/type and how its actually made which is nothing like any of the recipes found on google. A lot of it also comes down to the location you get them from too, theres not many places left and it only grows in the calder valley, mainly in a place called Hebden Bridge on the railway banking. Bunging nettles in was a personal choice too and is not part of the original recipe, nettles make a decent wine. The 'dock' polygonum bistorta makes a decent sparkling wine too.
