I heard the tonic contains quinine which in turn is activated by copious amounts of gin.  This repels mozzies.......and don't anyone tell me otherwise!!!!!  ;)

I usually get bitten and react badly. It is true that there are a lot of different creatures that bite. I think the bigger ants bite also along with lots of types of flies. We always have the blue tablet plug-ins for the bedrooms and that seems to work a treat. Going out in the evening I use Jungle formula. I don't suppose it is that good for you as it does contain DEET but hell it does the job. Make sure you do your feet if going out in sandals. (a painful mistake I made once)

I've never tried the Avon so don't know what it smells like but I'd much rather smell of my perfume in the evenings! It seems like that's a no no! :(

The Avon skin products are really nice, but like you,  I love my nice perfume, but it just makes the problem worse, and there is no point in spraying yourself in something gorgeous if you have to follow it up with Sinkov

Angela, what is Sinkov and is it only available in Turkey and from a Pharmacy?

Citronella Oil is also a very good  repellent.  A couple of drops on wrists and ankles seem to do the tick for me.

Avon is a skin softener and will not affect your perfume.  It has a gentle smell, so just use your perfume as usual.
I always have a shower, put on avon, get dressed and then do my hair and make up and then put on perfume.  However, they do say that perfume may attract mozzies, but I would not go out without wearing perfume and I always use Avon and Perfume and very rarely get bitten.  Last bite I had was a jumping spider bite.  Spiders will not be deterred by anything.
Sinkov is a Turkish made product similar to Jungle Formula and it does contact high quantities of Deet. A bottle of it is handy if you want to strip any furniture when you are over in Turkey.
