Hyacinth, it's a spray, available in all the shops, and most bars will have a bottle around, its very cheap, a couple of lira, it's very effective but I don't like the smell.

Right Angela, thank you. I hope it doesn't also have the effect of stripping shoe leather and leaving filthy marks on you feet for people to admire!! I'd rather smell of Angel, Alien or Gucci Rush but if needs must, I'll smell horrible to avoid the bites!

Last bite I had was a jumping spider bite.

I have had a couple of these Jacqui and they are really nasty.  I have a much worse reaction to them than I do to mossies.

I must admit I've never had the foot problems with discolouration, but mossie bites on your toes are a bitch!

Jumping spiders.....are they the little blighters that leap toward you when you try to whack them?  One of those frightened the life out of me as I didn't expect it to leap!
We have had some pretty horrendous bites that we thought were nasty mozzie jobbies but maybe it's one of these little sods.  Mozzie bites usually just itch a bit then go but some we have had recently have swollen up like small eggs - uuugghh   :'(

Yes, they're the little blighters.  When bitten by one of them, I get a lot of swelling and tightness around the bite and I can see marks all round the centre of the bite where it has impregnated my skin.

Copious amount of Xpel Bite and String Relief applied regularly seems to help.  You can buy it in Home Bargains and sometimes Lidl for 99p.

Thanks Marggie - will try that.
My first purchase on arrival every year is a can of bug spray for the apartment but they always get me when I am sat on the terrace at night on t'internet!!

My greatest piece of mosquito advice after 5 years of living there is - if you buy spray to kill them directly (on the wall or flying - not spray that you would spray on yourself) - don't buy the mozzie spray - buy the cockroach spray. Far more effective for killing mozzies.
