Shame people are influenced by a few bad reviews and do not go and make up their own minds (and that is referring to ANY restaurant)...There are more good reviews overall than bad and sometimes all businesses have a blip.
Is there any restaurant in Fethiye that hasn't had a bad review at some point in time.. I think not!
The good reviews and repeat customers speak volumes, so why not try for yourselves then make a decision...

It's good that the owner has come and put his side of the story.   May give it a go for lunch when we are over and take it from there.

I agree it is good that the owner has come onto the forum to answer these complaints.  We went to the Shaka twice in September and enjoyed the meal and whole ambience of the place.   We are intending to go back in June - but agree it does put you off when you get negative reviews.  Although personally I would not have asked for a prawn cocktail when it wasn't on the menu - but i do realise that restaurants will try to provide you with something that might not be on the menu.   Have to say we liked the menu that was offered in September.  I am not a particularly big eater so the size of the fillet was spot on for me.

Agree with Firo on this. We have put Shaka on our list for June. We have tried a few restaurants after reading reviews, some we have returned to, others not. Simples really.

Shaka how can you say forget about money thing ,some of us have worked bloody for our savings or are just living off of our pensions ,and some of the prices you charge way over the top ,your a seafront restaurant the same ,the same as many others alone there same view same chairs tables outside ,
oh you have a fire indoors ,i'm sorry it looks like you are trying make it a top notch a-la-carte , from a bog standard place ,pretty food on a plate dont fill bellies ,increase the portion size that would help.

Lance, I don't think he is saying that at all, he simply said how much it costs and that he is running a business.

As for portion size, this is customer choice ultimately...if they want bigger portions they can go elsewhere if Shaka's approach does not meet there requirements. No different to many restaurants approach in the uk.

I thought his comments were fair and honest. I admit being a Shaka fan as we liked the fact it was different....different surroundings, different approach to service, different approach to food but of course that will not suit everyone. I don't mind paying for something different if I feel it is good for us....we are also a fan of Bella Mamas.

"Pretty food that don't fill bellies" is about the most expensive food you can get in UK restaurants! There was such a place near Leighton Buzzard - all Porsches and Ferrari's in the car park and a mini lamb cutlet next to a cucumber carved into a rose shape for £40 - later you would often see the same sports cars stopping for chips on the way through town..!

I'm with Steve (although I am not a fan, I've never been but certainly will and make up my own mind) - if it's large portions or full plates you want, you can get that already. Anyone offering style over quantity isn't necessarily a bad thing. It obviously isn't for you this one   :)

Apologies - I had no idea this topic was locked. And no idea why. I am working quite a bit on my phone so I could have hit the wrong button.

Anyway, it's open again and the discussion can continue if required.
