We would have been in the same audience Marina. We went to see him there as well....If I remember rightly he spent most of his time with his back to the audience talking to his backing group... He did however do his Elvis tribute in the 2nd half. It was fantastic!!!  I am thoroughly jealous of some of The stars other people on this forum have seen. Our biggest stars were Elton John at Birmingham Arena.. Amazing!! and The Bee Gees at Wembley stadium...Also amazing but we were sitting so farback that we could barely see them....apart from the big screen...I was gutted as I have beeen a Bee Gees fan since I was 14 years old....

Small world Mercury!  ;D   I must admit this topic has really brought back memories of the bands I've seen over the last 50 years (I started young!!)   and have seen some really great acts.

However, my one big regret, which I think I've said on here before in other topics, is that I never got to see Queen perform with Freddie Mercury before he died.  That would have been amazing.

They did come to Leeds, Elland Road I think, early eighties but we didn't go, probably because our girls were only little then and we probably couldn't afford to!  :(

But, just for something to look forward to when we get back from Calis at the end of May  :(, we're going to see 'One Night of Queen' in Bradford.  This is a guy called Gary Mullen who, years ago, won Stars in Their Eyes as Freddie Mercury and now tours the world with his tribute act.  Now I 'm not normally a fan of tribute acts, most of them aren't that good, but this guy is fantastic.  We've seen him a couple of times before and had a really great night.   :)

The Beatles in a wooden church hall in sutton coldfield in 1963 and they were paid £50 between the four and the van driver. The support group had a local lad , Brian Hines as singer. He changed his name a few times and his groups (inc Moody Blues) then called himself Denny Laine and played with McCartney in Wings. The first Arena concert I went to was the first ever concert at the old Wembley Stadium in 1972.It started just before noon with young upstarts like Billy Fury,Marty Wilde ect .Gary Glitter got took off after a couple of numbers for his own protection, (they were throwing beer bottles at him) Screaming Lord Sutch, then got onto the good stuff.!Jerry Lee Lewis,Bill Haley and the Ccmets,Bo Diddley,Little Richard and closed with Chuck Berry doing a fantastic set.And not a bleeding thing about it next day in the sunday papers.
