Queen. It's a Kind of Magic at Wembley Stadium in 1986.  Spent the next few years going to as many concerts as I could, including Rod Stewart (as a favour!!) Madonna, Feargal Sharkey and Phil Collins to name a few and seen my favourites Level 42 on many occasions, most recently at the Royal Albert Hall in October last year and have to say they are as good now as they always were BUT Queen were unbeatable! Even Barry Manilow in Las Vegas didn't come close   ;)

Lotty,  We were luckier than we realised and took some of it for granted. While the Beatles were playing we went to the pub up the road for 1/2 hour to get a pint.My generation were spoilt for choice in the sixties and the Midlands was a fantastic place to be.

Early in the 70s at the Manchester Gaumont. A so called super group called Cream with Ginger Baker (I think). They were pretty terrible.
The  support act, a guy called David Bowie who played one song, his then chart topper "Space Oddity" . Played on the acoustic guitar. It was magic.

Later, but still in the early 70s, we saw the Supremes with Mary Bell. Dastardly. The support act was a soul singer called Joe Brown. Far Out Man. (It was cool to say that then)
As it was our first date, I took Sue for a meal of Sweet and Sour Pork and a sophisticated bottle of Reisling.
We have neither eaten S/S pork, drank Reisling or listened to the Supremes since.

Chris Farlowe and the Thunderbirds at Ross-on-Wye jazz club in 1965, the year before his great hit Out Of Time,he's still on the circuit now at 72 years of age, if not remembered for OOT but for the guy who Mike D'Abo first wrote Handbags and Gladrags, before rod Stewart and later The Stereophonics sang the song.

You must be a Manfreds fan?
Saw Chris Farlow about 3 years ago supporting The Manfreds - he was very very good - never realised before just how good he was.

Hi Ian We,ve seen Chris farlowe many times over the last 10 years, last Autum travelled to Turf moor, 220 mile for a charity do where Chris sang with the Soul Survivors, hell of a night and the 1st time for us South Walians  to see Northern soul still being danced. A few years ago we saw him in Newport fronting a band called Endangered Species and so they were,as far as I can remember Chris lead singer, Zoot Money on Keyboards, a guitarist from Deep Purple, Tony Ashton of Aston Gardener and Dyke can't remember the others but they were all in their late 50  hence Endangered Species, and as you mentioned the Manfreds saw him in Bristol with late great Long John Baldry just before he died, all good memories of my favourite ever singer.
