I just wish that for now at least, when she has only just passed away, that people shouldn't be saying horrid things about her.

Dead, alive, what does it matter?  When she chose to enter politics she chose to be in the public eye and as a result is fair game.  No-one has stated anything that hasn't been said or written about her before.

The irony here is that it is a pro Thatcher poster who has dropped the tone of the thread...

Good or bad, the woman made a difference and that sort of tenacity should be applauded. It takes some balls to continue on a path you believe to be right when all around you are baying for your demise.

Robert Mugabe has made a difference in Zimbabwe. No applause from me.

That's comparable to the Adolf remark - not the same thing at all.

As always there is from some quarters the mistake of taking general comments on a person dead or alive as a personal attack against them rather accepting it as the opinion of others.

Respect for others opinions should not provoke petty personal attacks.

Possibly.....

Adolf hitler, Fred West, Peter Sutcliff, Mick and Mairead Philpott, Myra Hindley, Ian Brady, Jimmy Saville (I am running out of ink now)  Let us not speak ill of the dead (Ok 3 not yet, unfortunately)  do we say RIP for them too?  May hell freeze first.
