I know at which University she studied. My mother also went on to University. Some had to have the brains and some the brawn, just the same as now. As for fighting, what did you expect her to do? She was a woman, though with bigger balls than most men I've met in my life. My mother helped out at the WAAF whenever she could, where she met my father who was Lancaster bomber crew. What did your mother do to help the war effort usedbustickets? We can't all have everything and it's a little late now to be able to ask her what she did, if anything.
Ultimately, history will decide whether in the long term she was good for this country or bad. I personally think she did this country a great service and as yesterday, I think it's a little early to slag the woman off. I will now leave this conversation, as I did yesterday because, though I appreciate and accept we all have differing opinions, I found it a little early to be bad mouthing, slagging off...call it what you will, a woman who only passed away in the last 24 hours and has no way to defend herself.
I wish you all a good day and happy arguing.
Mrs B not sure what has got you all defensive and sensitive about your mother, I didn't even mention her in my response, let alone slag anyone off. I simply conveyed the views of my dear old mum and dad on an aspect of Thatcher.
As to mum's war time record she unfortunately saw plenty of action on London anti aircraft sites as a member of the ATS (army). As they used to say, she more than done her bit.
BTW a top tip for the forum, when you make a comment please don't say that you are now leaving the thread, at least have the good grace to defend or least listen to what others have to say in reply to your comments, particularly when you say something controversial.
