May Waether and Sea temperatures
« on: April 13, 2013, 14:51:11 PM »
Fellow campers --- Hi de Hi!

We usualy visit in early Septemeber but a dear friend is looking at going in May and we were thinking of accompanying her. It would mean arriving some time after 20th May.

I have no idea what the weather is like then and have learned that all the information sites of course have vestyed interests so you can never belive them! I am just conerned it wont be that warm, especially in the evenings, and that the Sea may be a bit chilly? Alternative is after 7th June when i belive it will be much warmer but she may not be able to get away then.

So, I thought, ask the good people of CBF!

What vested interest would this site have

We have been many times at the end of May.
Daytime is usually high 20's in the shade. Plenty of sun and much hotter obviously in the sun, and warm in evenings. A cardy is a possibility if you feel the cold.
Bit chilly in the sea and pools will be freezing IMHO.

Weather is not unlike that of September John.
Nice enough to have a day on the beach or by the pool but a cardi for the evenings when it gets cooler

Always go the end of May and the beginning of June, lovely time to be there, long light nights and lovely flowers growing.  We never find it cold, we are in the pool every day.  Took cardi's last year and never used them.  Also the 3C's will be having events at the end of May including the Charity Auction, which is a great night out, as I recall at last year's Auction we sat at the Bambu until midnight and it was still lovely and warm.  ;D  ;)

Thank you so much Jacqui for a very informative and balanced view from personal experience! Much better than a satistical cold analysis as referred to in Wikipedia!  :)

I wouldn't classify an average high of nearly 80 cold but there you go.  ;)

The reason I posted it johntaylor49 was that I was confident that people would say more or less what the chart says

We have been going to Calis the last week in May for the  past few years - we have found it a bit chilly at night and a bit rainy as well, but on the whole the days were just a nice heat.  We certainly needed a cardi at night and will be taking one again this year as we are over at the end of May.

Thanks to all, will see if she can go later!

Sounds a bit like Spain in May, can be hot, can be cool, can rain, and the Sea ----cold! It was the Water temperature particularly as didnt fancy going in and coming out of a cold sea with the brisk breezes at Patara or elsewhere where it is not as sheltered as Calis.
