I have peered through the gates of Le Manoir, and thats as close as I ever intend to get. However much you love food (and I do) it all ends up the same place whatever it costs!

We discussed a similar thing at work last week. I am both too tight and too ignorant to appreciate an extortionate costing meal. Like these people who pay hundreds of pounds for a bottle of wine. Once eaten or you have drunk the wine its all over.
I would feel robbed. No food or wine is worth such expense in my opinion.

Bewva - I know it's chalk and cheese so to speak, but I'd be surprised if we spent that amount on eating out during our fortnight and that's only one place on that trip.

We've discussed this (extortionate prices) many times on here, be it wine, food, hotel rooms or whatever.

Must admit I feel the same bewva.  Although I said earlier it sounded wonderful, and it probably would make a lovely day out, I couldn't ever think of spending so much just on food and wine.  I would always be thinking how much more I could get for my money elsewhere.  For an example, we're off to Calis in 3 weeks and 3 days time  ;D,.  We paid £350 for return flights for two of us, same again for 16 nights accommodation (self-catering) which would still leave £400 towards spending money if you calculate £1100 for two of us on this excursion.

I'm afraid the Yorkshire in me would never accept that!    ;)

Well I would suggest a cost of £1600 per person...........not sure I could find the will power to part with this kind of money for a train journey and some nice food and Victoria station will be the same as those catching the train to Clapham Junction   ;)
