BMB is driving me mad & causing me to feel confined to my home.

I was walking down there yesterday on my way back from a childrens party & twice my 4 year old Son tripped in random holes. Single brinks missing & nothing but fresh air beneath.
Cut knees, burst balloons & tears. New sandals covered in dust & mud from the nobbers who keep watering the bloody thing.

And the shop where there is a back seat of a car that old men use to sit and stare at the world going by. Right next to a tree. The Army couldn't have designed a better assort course. Whey council haven't removed it is beyond me.

At one point a man had to help me get my Daughters pushchair up a kerb as it'd got wedge in a dip.

After reading about the machete attack near the bridge I think the next time I venture out I will pack a dust mask, taser & crampons.

I thought I read somewhere that the Mayor said the paving would be finished, complete with cycle track, by the end of May, unfortunately he did not state what year  :)

I think the mayor was talking about the sea front road not the roads around calis. I stongly believe that Calis is very low on the list of things to do by the Belediye its always Fethiye 1st,2nd,3rd then if lucky Calis.Just look at the mess eveywhere even by the cash machines in Calis they dug it up,throw the dirt back  then left it.Roads have pot holes deeper than some mines in yorkshire, street lights when on that are not bright enough to light up the paths, canels all overgrown, wooden decking with broken boards and nails sticking up,land used as tips by all the builders, and so on.Wake up Fethiye Belediye before all the tourists stop coming or are you waiting for this before taken action..PS I love Calis but its hard sometimes to look past all the crap..

I've just walked past Violet and took the following, as another poster states, you will be able to escape via the side gate as shown below

But why oh why do they do the work now, they've had all the winter to do BMB, instead of the back roads around it.  The whole area is a mess, and the dust levels are almost a health hazard.  I try to take any route I can to avoid it.

In IMHO (City and Guilds Streetworks qualified) ;D ;D if they worked on it night and day, it will still take at least a month to finish.  So my estimate is that it will probably take 2 months to finish, that's practically July.  Unless they stop the storm drain and electricity work and leave the roads and pavements in mess until this winter.  Which wouldn't surprise me.

thanks for posting the photos it looks awful it looks as if you would have to walk on road or does anyone know if you turn the other way  out of violet apartments can you walk to the front that way I like to walk and I don't mind pushing my husband in wheelchair as long as there is somewhere to stop and get a drink also do you catch the bus on the BMB to go in either direction. Just another question is there a supermarket close by that I could walk to and get a taxi back to do a big shop as we are there for 3 weeks and how close is the sunday market
Many thanks
carol
Ps I will probably have a few more questions before we fly out on Wednesday

Sunday Market is turn left coming out of Violet and walk down the road, then turn left at the roundabout and walk down pass the Cafe Inn and keep on you will see the market on the left.  If might be better to catch the dolmus down as it's quite a long walk.
There is a Tansas Supermarket next to the Sunday Market and next to that a Migros Supermarket. Tansas and Migros are the same company. One tip, if you go into either ask for a card, pay 1 lira for it and it enables you to get any special members offers, so any discounts. Just show the card at the till. Card can be used in either Supermarket.  Further down is a Bim (which is quite basic but quite cheap no alcohol) and then at the very bottom of the road opposite the Hospital is Kipa (which belows to Tesco).
When are you going Carol?

Sunday Market is turn left coming out of Violet

That would depend on which way you came out of Violet  :)

No no

Serious point in a way, if you come out of the bottom gate and turn left, you'll walk quite a distance before you find a roundabout. Kalkan possibly  ;)
